AutoNation Returns to the Northeast
Interesting news from Automotive News. AutoNation Inc.'s acquisition of four dealerships in New York marks a return to the Northeast by the largest new-vehicle retailer in the U.S.The four stores AutoNation acquired in Westchester County, N.Y., sell BMW, Land Rover and Jaguar vehicles. The stores -- three bought from Premier Collection and one from DiSimone Imports -- generate about $190 million in total revenue and retail 2,600 new and used vehicles a year.
AutoNation left the Northeast in 2000 after it sold three New Jersey stores. Is this the beginning of an expansion by AutoNation into the lucrative Northeast?
