Our History
Born into the business… Gordon G. Wisbach, Jr., the firm's founder and present owner, was born into the business and has lived in New England for most of his adult life. His father and grandfather worked for one of the major OEMs, Chrysler Corporation, after WWII, then later became dealers. In turn Gordon worked for Chrysler and held various Sales Division management positions throughout the country before starting his automotive brokerage business here in New England and New York. Saw a need 42 years ago and satisfied it… GW Marketing Services was launched in March of 1980—four decades ago—to meet the growing need for sophisticated, knowledgeable dealership brokerage and business appraisal services. GW Marketing Services was the first automobile dealership broker in New England dedicated exclusively to the auto Industry. Utilizing his considerable automotive marketing and business management experience, Gordon was well positioned to satisfy his clients’ needs. In turn, Gordon quickly achieved the prestigious position of being New England’s #1 volume, most respected dealership broker, with the most repeat business and highest client loyalty level in the region.
Here’s what we have to show for it… During our 42 years, we have brokered hundreds of dealerships involving dozens of franchises. We have consulted in hundreds of related dealership transactions, including automobile dealership business appraisals, market consolidation support, and acquisition or sale strategy. We also have extensive experience in litigation activities as “expert witnesses”, offering testimony, mediation, and arbitration services for divorces, family and partnership disputes, and manufacturers’ market consolidation policy changes. Growing in demand, our market consolidation support is one of the most important services we offer to our automobile dealership clients challenged by the changing OEM Market Representation policies.
Navigating troubled waters… Today the Automobile Industry is going through the most intensely concentrated paradigm change at the dealership level, the likes of which the Industry has never experienced, producing a very severe market (franchise) consolidation. Gordon has had over four decades of retail and wholesale automobile business experience. He has built strategic alliances with CPAs, lawyers, turnaround specialists, and other key vendors in the automobile business, and he is well positioned to assist his clients in expertly navigating these troubled waters.
