Insights from the recent New England Auto Sales figures
Interesting Observations from recent New England Auto Sales figures
1) The market is down again this month (OCT) 3-4 mo's in a row, but only a little over 2% down YTD! Still we are spoiled by last year's excellent results. This is a real downer for them even tho' it's a marginal decline;
2) DOMESTICS outpacing IMPORTS (read, Japanese)
3) Some notables are up; Jag, Volvo, Mitsu, but all from "small #'s"; and
4) Interesting what we see with FCA, CHRYSLER GROUP.! The Chrysler Group sold 28,252 units, paced by JEEP with about 19,000 ++. Jeep lost out to Subaru by ONLY 56 units!! Jeep is in 6th place, could have been 5th place in MA, an IMPORT Market!! Only TOY, HON, CHEV, and FORD were ahead! The "Message here", Ladies and Gentlemen is that Total Chrysler Group was 3rd in MA in Retail sales and was off only 156 units YTD, so gained market Share AGAIN. BUT BUT BUT ... Chrysler insists on adding more dealers! FCA Group dealers would be #2 after Toyota on per outlet sales if Chrysler had the same dealer count as Toyota! and because JEEP's Warranty revenue is 50% of the Fixed Ops rather than 15% to 25% like other Brands!! Profitability measured by return on sales would be way over any of the to volume sellers!
